Abstract

The authors consider self-determination as a personal human activity and person’s ability to select independently the direction of his self-development. Scientists prove that the self-determination is as a meta-competence in the professional development and self-actualization of a student. The article presents the results of empirical research showing that self-determination process determines the student’s professional self-realization. A program to optimize the self-determination process for the first-year students is also proposed. After completing the research it was concluded that the implementation of the presented program will contribute to the optimization of selfdetermination process for students at the beginning of their professional self-actualization.

Keywords: meta-competence, self-determination, self-development, professional growth of the student’s personality.
